India’s Covid 19 incredible vaccination drive
While the deadly virus of COVID 19 originated from Wuhan, China causing suffering to its local populous and shut the world down. On the other hand, India has given the world one of the most effective and affordable vaccinations. Most of India’s neighbours like Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh have received grant assistance, contractual agreements, or regulatory clearance.
Contractual supplies are being undertaken with Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Kuwait, South Africa, UAE, Mongolia, Brazil, Canada, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Morocco, and Mauritius & Seychelles’ have already received the respective doses. It is only the beginning as more and more countries want India’s vaccination due to its state of the art vaccine manufacturing capabilities and expertise.
The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has thanked the Indian government for their support and response to the COVID 19 situation.
India did exceptionally well in its fight against the virus despite its massive population of 1.3 billion people. With having one of the lowest death ratios to the fantastic recovery rate, the job by India’s health workers, frontline warriors, and the government is nothing short of commendable.
It is perhaps fair to say that the world’s vaccination hub — India is the safest place to travel for international travellers. India is also conducting the world’s largest vaccination drive looking to vaccinate 300 million people for free. These include health workers, front line warriors and folks with health issues putting them in the high-risk category and need maximum safety.
As of October 1st 2021, India has vaccinated:
- 87.3 crores (873 million) doses administered.
- 23.1 crores (231 million) fully vaccinated, that is 16.9% of the population.
- On the birthday of the Prime Minister, India set a record by administrating 25 million jabs.
